With an international career behind her, Johanne Perron played with orchestras and presented recitals in Canada, Brazil, the United States, Mexico as well as in Europe. First-prize winner of several contests and founder and member of the Cellissimo Duo!, she presently pursues a career as chamber music and solo artist. She was heard numerous times on radio and television broadcasts in Canada and on WQXR in New York.
Born in Chicoutimi, she was awarded the first-prize in cello and chamber music at the Conservatoire de Québec with Pierre Morin. As a Canada Council grant recipient, she pursues her studies with Aldo Parisot at Yale where she obtains her master’s degree. She has won the Prix d’Europe in 198 as well as the first prize in strings during the Tremplin International des Concours de Musique du Canada and has attended several master classes with Janos Starker in Banff, Canada, Pierre Fournier in Geneva , Paul Tortelier in California and Leonard Rose at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. As a Jeunesses Musicales artist, she has given recitals and concerts throughout Canada and the States, in Portugal, Switzerland, Italy and Brazil. Critics of the Musical America magazine have described her as « an artist whose extraordinary musicality combines both intensity and profound serenity. » Johanne Perron teaches at the HARID Conservatory at Boca Raton in Florida since 1991, a reknowned music conservatory which attracts young and talented musicians from around the world. Johanne Perron has also taught at the Eastern Music Festival and has presented master classes throughout the United States. |
