Le Domaine Forget's future projects
A few years ago, Le Domaine Forget carried out an extensive exercise in strategic planning in order to identify future needs and to elaborate a major development plan which was evaluated at $9.M. The evaluation largely surpassed the Corporation’s investment capacity, therefore in August 2003, Le Domaine Forget launched an important capital appeal “Bâtir sur le succès”. Its goal was to raise $3.5M: ($2M) for housing and infrastructures, ($1M) for its Scholarship Fund and finally ($0.5M) for an Endowment Fund. This campaign ended in August 2006 with over $2.5M. The capital permitted Le Domaine Forget to undertake part of its projects: construction of three separate rehearsal studios, the renovation of the Studios at Le Domaine Forget (housing) and the purchase of specialized technical equipment for the Françoys-Bernier concert hall.
Unfortunately, an unforeseen event had completely disorganized this already ambitious development plan. On the evening of June 9, 2005, a devastating fire destroyed Le Domaine’s most beautiful remaining heritage building, the Cafeteria and Services Pavilion. In order to continue its activities during the 2005 and 2006 sessions, rudimentary but adequate food services for our students, professors and staff were organized on the premises. Meanwhile, seeing as the Services Pavilion remains the corner stone of the activities at Le Domaine Forget, it was crucial that its reconstruction be finished for the summer of 2007.
Thus, Spring 2007, will see another $3.5M fund raising campaign “Flowing with talent”. Since the funds of the first campaign went towards rebuilding the Services Pavilion and to the aforementioned projects, a new campaign must raise the funds that will permit Le Domaine Forget to reach the goals and objectives that were identified by the Trustees in 2003 and that remain a priority in 2007.
That is why we again turn to you, to all of you, concerned by the development of our youth and the arts. Join us and help raise the capital that will enable Le Domaine Forget to reach its goals.
