A place to consider for your recording sessions
The only hall in Quebec designed specifically for musical performance, it is already renowned for its exceptional acoustics and has proven ideal for recording purposes. Artec Consultants from New York were the first specialists to be involved in the planning of the hall. They designed a program that would meet the the Corporation’s objectives: teaching and masterclasses, music and dance performance, radio, television and CD recording, commercial rental.
A « shoe box » design, in other words, a narrow rectangular space with a soaring elevation and a wrap around balcony surrounding the concert platform permit a rapid reflection of sound and a greater intimacy between audience and performers. The height, volume, shape, design and judicious selection of building materials are all elements vital to optimum acoustics. The performance area is entirely isolated form the rest of the building, it distinguishes itself by the quality of its silence. Rear wall travelling acoustic panels under the balcony overhang and curtains on the walls at all levels that can be retracted or extended allow for adjustable acoustics. A perfect blend of absorptive and reflective surfaces and materials and insulation of the mechanical systems contribute to achieving absolute "quiet" allowing the performer to obtain the desired sound.
Recording material
Although most companies prefer to use their own recording material, there is a certain amount of equipment in the Hall that can be used for recording purposes. If necessary, we can also assist you in finding equipment from different rental companies.
A Steinway 9’ concert grand piano is available for recording sessions, piano tunings can be scheduled on request. Access to cyberspace is available in the Hall.
Housing
It is possible to lodge in the efficiency-type Studios at Domaine Forget during your recording sessions. Arrangements can be made with local restaurants to cater in meals during recording sessions.
