To achieve the perfect sound one must first have quiet. The Françoys-Bernier concert hall is encased in an insulated concrete block from basement to roof. Circulation passes through sound and light locks with double doors.
The mechanical room is situated in the basement but outside the audience chamber, it is insulted by a series of passageways. The mechanical systems sit on neoprene cushions to avoid transmitting vibrations and noise.
The HVAC system is designed to be silent. A series of conduits bring the air into a plenum under the audience chamber and then through diffusers installed under the seats and in certain walls.
Temporary cable pass-thrus and racks can accommodate portable performance equipment without leaving doors ajar.
