PROGRAM - le chant français 

The voice program offers a custom-made program for advanced voice students, aged 18 years and over and young professionals.

This program covers exhaustive study of the French repertoire and style. While working on an entire role or varied repertoire, the student is called upon to understand the differences and to master the different aspects of the French style. The repertoire could come from XVII to XX century melody, oratorio, opera or opéra-comique. The program ends with a concert to demonstrate the acquired knowledge and skills.

REPERTOIRE PROGRAM

  • Individual voice lessons and Masterclasses
    Teachers: Ariane Girard, Jean-François Lapointe

  • Coachings with a specialist pianist
    Pianists: Anne-Marie Bernard, Jean-François Mailloux and Louise Pelletier

  • Workshops and discussions on various themes connected to career development

  • Academy Concerts or Domaine on the Road concerts, solo with piano or with the Academy Chamber Orchestra
  • Official acknowledgement of participation to the stage

OPERA PROGRAM (ROLE PREPARATION)

The French Opera content is intended for graduated or professional singers who want to work-in-depth on a role of a French opera. The pedagogic approach is through voice lessons, masterclasses and vocal coachings.

This program is open to a limited number of students. Selected candidates will receive a scholarship worth of one thousand Canadian dollars (CAN $1,000). They will be chosen on the strength of their application.

Candidates who aren’t selected for this segment will automatically be considered for the repertoire program.


EVERY PROGRAM INCLUDES

  • Access to all Academy classes and activities for the entire program: masterclasses, workshops, and conferences.
  • Free access to Domaine Forget International Festival concerts during the program. (Restrictions may apply for certain concerts).
  • Student evening activities (bonfire, sports activities, tourist outings, movies, yoga etc.).
  • Individual practice huts and spaces situated on the enchanting site in the middle of nature.
  • Three meals a day in the Joseph-Rouleau pavilion, which has a large terrace and marvelous view overlooking the St. Lawrence River.
  • Double or quadruple occupancy lodging.

INFORMATION SESSIONS

If you want more information about the program or the registration progress, our general information sessions are there to guide you. They consist of a short presentation of the Academy and followed by a question period.

These 60-minute virtual sessions will be held on:

  • Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 10AM and 2PM
  • Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 10AM and 2PM

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

Complete all steps of the online application form, pay the CAN $85 registration fee and provide the audition materiel by February 1, 2022.

In the scholarship awarding process, the evaluation committee will consider the quality of the audition material, the excellent nature of the candidate’s file as well as the student’s motivation letter.

If you wish to apply for the opera section (role preparation), please check the corresponding box on the application form.

AUDITION MATERIAL - REPERTOIRE PROGRAM

  • Two (2) works of your choice of contrasting types, including one French Melody or Opera. Total length of 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Current biography and résumé (CV)
  • Profile picture

Please upload a separate video for every work ; public or unlisted YouTube, Vimeo or DropBox links or any other link directly accessible without a password and clearly labeled. Recordings should be recent (less than 12 months).

AUDITION MATERIAL - OPERA PROGRAM

  • In addition to the REPERTOIRE PROGRAM AUDITION MATERIAL, submit 1 French opera aria from the role you want to work. Total length of 10 to 15 minutes.

All documents must be inserted at the last step of the application form (step 5)

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

  • Arrival: Monday, August 8, 2022, as of 2PM (classes begin on Tuesday, August 9, 2022)
  • Departure: Saturday, August 20, 2022, after breakfast

PAYMENT INFORMATION

First instalment 
To confirm and reserve your place a first deposit, a non-refundable fee covering about half the cost of your session is required within seven (7) days following your acceptance letter and invoice.

Second instalment
The second payment is due no later than May 1, 2022.


CANCELLATION / REFUND

Le Domaine Forget de Charlevoix reserves the right to cancel any program if circumstances demand it. All fees already paid will then be reimbursed. Registration fees are non-refundable.

Le Domaine Forget de Charlevoix will retain 50% of the second payment in case of cancellation of your registration.

No refund possible after May 2, 2022.


 

Paypal

Domaine Forget uses Paypal for secure payments. Email confirmation (in addition to the automated PayPal notification email) will be sent as soon as possible, once payment has been confirmed. Payment confirmation may take a few days. Remember: You must enter the amount you wish to pay and the full name of the registering student.
