Flute and Sonata Session emphasizes solo practice of the flute sonata repertoire. This two-week program proposes to very advanced level flutists (aged 18 and over) a personalized pedagogical approach in a collaborative context.
Students participating in this session will not be part of a chamber music group or wind quintet. They will devote themselves to the sonata repertoire and will work daily with an accompanying pianist.

Complete all steps of the online application form, pay the $80 registration fee and provide the audition materiel by February 1st, 2021.
In the scholarship awarding process, the evaluation committee will consider the quality of the audition material, the excellent nature of the candidate’s file as well as the student’s cover letter.
PLUS
All the documents must be uploaded at the last step of the application form (step 5).
*Video link (one link per piece or a single link with different works); public or unlisted YouTube, Vimeo or DropBox links or any other link directly accessible without a password and clearly labeled.
Repertoire
The student must submit the repertoire that he or she would like to work on or improve during the session by uploading the details (titles, composers and edition) to Your Profile (Step 5) by May 1st, 2021 at the latest. You must be prepared to play the repertoire during masterclasses.
Masterclasses
All the students can attend daily masterclasses. Generally, one or two masterclasses per week.
All students will participate in a master class with the guest faculty, as long as the level of preparation is deemed sufficient by the teachers. It is the student's responsibility to provide a repertoire that is sufficiently detailed to be presented in a master class.
N.B.: It is strictly forbidden to record or take photos during masterclasses without the guest musician’s prior approval, should this be the case, these recordings or photos must be kept solely for your private use.
Individual lessons
Participants will typically receive two to three individual lessons per week with the faculty professor of their choice.
We will try to favour a student’s first choice of professor but depending on circumstances and available spots in the classes, a student could be assigned his second or third choice of professor.
Rehearsals with piano as part of the sonata program
The students will work daily with their pianist on their repertoire of sonatas in preparation for the student concerts.
Students must bring photocopies of the piano scores of the works they will work on in masterclasses and give them to the pianists at the beginning of the session. These photocopies must already be bound.
Academy concerts or "Domaine on the Road" series
All chamber music groups will have the opportunity to perform in Academy concerts or in the "Domaine on the Road" series as long their teachers deem them ready.
Instrument
Each participant must fully insure his/her instrument for the entire length of his/her session. Unfortunately, Domaine Forget does not rent or loan musical instruments.
