This intensive one-week program, in collaborative partnership with les Violons du Roy and their recently appointed conductor, Jonathan Cohen is intended for very advanced string instrumentalists and harpsichordists who want to develop a greater expertise in chamber orchestra performance. This personalized pedagogical approach in a collaborative context will allow the students to gain additional knowledge about the different musical esthetics of baroque, classical and romantic repertoire.
All the candidates admitted to the 2019 Chamber Orchestra program at le Domaine Forget Academy in collaboration with Les Violons du Roy, will be awarded a scholarship to cover 50% of the session fees, approximate value $450CDN.
The 5 first chairs selected through the video evaluations will receive a full scholarship for the session, approximate value, $1,000CDN.

N.B. At the closing concert, all the students will perform at least one of these works with the principal musicians of les Violons du Roy.

Scholarship request: check the appropriate box on the application form (step 5).
Each participant must fully insure his/her instrument for the entire length of his/her session. Unfortunately, Domaine Forget does not rent or loan musical instruments.
Students who would like the chance of performing solo with the Academy chamber orchestra and some of the musicians from les Violons du Roy must prepare one of these concertos in its entirety, including all the movements unless indicated otherwise.
The contest is open to all instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass and harpsichord.

PROCEDURE FOR THE CONTEST
The concerto contest is open to all duly registered students for the 2019 chamber orchestra session.
The first round of the concerto contest will take place on August 12, 2019 at the Domaine Forget concert hall before a jury composed of the Academy management staff and musicians from les Violons du Roy. Finalists will have the opportunity of performing their concerto at the contest finale during the Academy concert.
The contest finale will be held during the Academy concert on August 16, 2019. The public and jury will vote for the outstanding performance, the winner will receive a $1,000CDN valid for one of the Domaine Forget 2020 sessions.
Arrival: Sunday August 11, 2019 after 2 P.M. (classes begin on Monday)

International student: $1,045 CDN
One masterclass: $50 CDN
One day: $80 CDN
One week: $375 CDN
To confirm and reserve your place, a first deposit, non-refundable fee covering half of the full amount for your internship is required within seven (7) days, following your acceptance letter and invoice.
The second payment is due no later than July 1, 2019.
A $50 fee will be charged for any change, on dates, or duration of yourstay. Failure to comply with these terms, will result for the accepted student the lost of his/her reserved place. Le Domaine Forget reserves the right to cancel any program if circumstances demands it.
Le Domaine Forget will retain 50% of the second payment in case of cancellation of your registration. No refund will be made after May 2, 2019.
Domaine Forget uses Paypal for secure payments. Email confirmation (in addition to the automated PayPal notification email) will be sent as soon as possible, once payment has been confirmed. Payment confirmation may take a few days. Remember: You must enter the amount you wish to pay and the full name of the registering student.
