program

This intensive two week program is intended for intermediate and advanced level orchestra conductors (bachelor’s master’s or doctoral degree) who wish to improve their directing technique. It proposes a personalized pedagogical approach in a collaborative context. 

  • Daily Conducting lessons with Ivars Taurins (July 12-18) or Miguel Harth-Bedoya (July 19 – 25)
  • Daily rehearsal with Two Pianos and String Quartet
  • Scores Analysis, Style, technique and gestural approaches, body language, rehearsal techniques and communication
  • Sit-in rehearsal with Orchestre symphonique de Québec
  • Final Public Workshop with Two Pianos and String Quartet

ENHANCED CONTENT

Some students will be selected through an audition process at the end of the first week of the session to perform with Orchestre symphonique de Québec at their concert during the 2020 International Music Festival at Domaine Forget.

THE SESSION INCLUDES

  • Free access to all the Academy classes and activities for the entire session (possibility of attending masterclasses in other instruments if schedules allow)
  • Free access to le Domaine Forget International Festival concerts during the session*
    *Restrictions may apply for certain concerts
  • Student evening activities (bonfire, sports activities, movies, yoga etc.)
  • Three meals a day in the Joseph-Rouleau pavilion, which has a large terrace and marvelous view overlooking the St. Lawrence River.
  • Double or quadruple occupancy lodging (Sheets and towels excluded. Renting costs : $35.)

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

  • Complete all steps of the online application form, pay the registration fee and provide the following material by May 1, 2020.

 Audition material

  • Video link* of your conducting (Unlisted YouTube, Vimeo or DropBox links or any other link directly accessible, WITHOUT the need of a password) including: Performances of two works - (totaling 20 minutes) – with contrasting style and period
  • Your Curriculum Vitae including a list of your repertoire
  • A letter of recommendation from either teacher or prominent musicians who know your work as conductor.

* Video link (one link per piece or a single link with different works); public or unlisted YouTube, Vimeo or DropBox links or any other link directly accessible without a password and clearly labeled.

* Overtures will be part of the program performed  by l’ Orchestre symphonique de Québec on July 25th, during the 2020 Domaine Forget International Music Festival. Students selected through an audition process will have the chance to conduct these overtures in concert.

 PAYMENT INFORMATION | REFUND POLICY

First instalment 

To confirm and reserve your place, a first deposit, non-refundable fee covering half of the full amount for your internship is required within seven (7) days, following your acceptance letter and invoice.

Second instalment

The second payment is due no later than June 1, 2020.


MODIFICATIONS

A $50 fee will be charged for any change, on dates, or duration of your stay. Failure to comply with these terms, will result for the accepted student the lost of his/her reserved place. Le Domaine Forget reserves the right to cancel any program if circumstances demands it.


CANCELLATION / MODIFICATION / REFUND

Le Domaine Forget will retain 50% of the second payment in case of cancellation of your registration. No refund will be made after June 2, 2020.

Paypal

Domaine Forget uses Paypal for secure payments. Email confirmation (in addition to the automated PayPal notification email) will be sent as soon as possible, once payment has been confirmed. Payment confirmation may take a few days. Remember: You must enter the amount you wish to pay and the full name of the registering student.
