Conducting

This intensive two-week program offers university conductors and young professionals (minimum age 18) a personalized pedagogical approach in a collaborative context.

The conductors of the 21st Century are called upon to be versatile, to be citizens of the world: open, curious, respectful of works and traditions but also of the musicians who surround them. Thus, they will be able to find their own voice to inspire the groups of musicians with whom they work and their audiences.

Scores analysis, style, technique and gestural approaches, body language, rehearsal techniques and communication are some of the main topics covered throughout the session.

To adequately train young conductors, works from the symphonic repertoire covering different styles and eras will be worked on, including Canadian works. The exact titles, opus and editions will be communicated to the students at the time of their admission.
