Information sessions

Join us for free weekly online information sessions in December 2020 and January 2021, hosted by Domaine’s very own Academic Coordinator, Valérie Arsenault. These open-door events will answer any questions you may have about course material, admissions and much more. We’ve even planned some free masterclasses with faculty members!

The DFCA Scholarship Fund is designed to address the growing need for financial aid and to encourage music and dance students to pursue their education. In 2021, a total of $235,000 in scholarships will be awarded to the Academy’s participants.  


Each student duly registered by the deadline for a summer session at DFCA is automatically admitted to the scholarship awarding process. Scholarships are awarded based on the quality of the candidate’s track record, cover letter and video audition performance.

Students are selected upon recommendation of the evaluation committee. Recipients are advised once their admission to the Academy is confirmed.


These $1,750 bursaries are offered to students who are registered for a 4-week session and who have demonstrated a very high level of performance.

These $1,000 bursaries are offered to students registered for a 2-week session and who have demonstrated a very high level of performance.

Financial aid scholarship
These $500 scholarships are offered to students registered for a 2-week session or more, and who, upon registration, applied for financial aid by outlining in a letter their financial needs and motivations for wanting to study at DFCA. Financial aid can be cumulated with A or B type bursaries, depending on the selection committee’s evaluation of the students' record.

Work/study scholarship
These $300 work/study scholarships are offered to students in exchange for their services during their stay at the Academy. See details below.

Merit scholarship
These $1,000 merit scholarships, valid for the following year, are awarded to students whose exceptional performance and positive attitude have stood out during their stay at DFCA.


This program is intended for students who want to lower their session fees by working at the Academy during their session, i.e. approximately fifteen (15) hours per week.

The type of work required varies depending on the experience and preference of the students. We regularly need students to welcome patrons during concerts, to set up and clean equipment for classes and rehearsals, to make photocopies or to prepare certain activities.

This program is reserved for students registered for 2-week or 4-week sessions and $300 is offered to the student in exchange for their services. This work/study scholarship can be combined with another type of scholarship.

One (1) candidate per session will be accepted in the work/study program. Applicants who wish to participate in this program must submit a resume (CV) and cover letter.




Should government guidelines forbid attendance of an on-site session, one of two scenarios will occur:

  1. The session will be held virtually, with the same dates and length. The student will be registered automatically to the virtual format and room & board will be refunded. Should a student decide not to participate in the virtual session, please advise us at
  2. The session will be canceled. The student will be automatically reimbursed.

Please consult the session you are interested in under the RATES section to know if it would be held virtually or be cancelled.

General preventive measures

DFCA must pay particular attention to the 2 meter (6ft) physical distancing guideline in the following situations: arrival, breaks, meals, and departure.

If physical distancing without a protective barrier is impossible for a period exceeding 15 minutes, preventive measures must be implemented to protect everyone who is present.

Masks or face coverings

Since July 17, 2020 wearing a mask or a face covering is obligatory in all performance venues.

Each person present in the concert hall or cafeteria must respect 2meter physical distancing and wear a mask on arrival until seated. Masks can be removed while sitting and eating but must be worn again when leaving the table or bringing your tray to the dishwashing area at the end of your meal.

Wearing a mask outdoors is recommended but not obligatory.

Specific preventive measures

Upon arrival at DFCA, an Academy staff member must inquire about the state of health of each student, contractual worker, and guest artist by asking the following questions:

  • Do you have any of these symptoms: cough, fever, difficulty breathing, sudden loss of smell?
  • Have you been out of the country within the last 2 weeks?
  • Are you or have you been in contact with someone diagnosed with Covid-19?
  • Have you been tested for Covid-19, if so, when and what was the result? If positive, has it been two weeks or more?

Hand washing is required for all employees, students, contractual workers, and guest artists:

  • When entering or leaving each building
  • Before and after meals
  • Before and after a break
  • Before smoking
  • After going to the bathroom

Sanitary facilities
Bathrooms and sinks with clean and warm running water are available to all employees, students, contractual workers, and guest artists. These areas must be kept clean and in good running order.

Cleansing products for all employees, students, contractual workers, and guest artists:

  • Hand soap or hand sanitizer
  • Hand blow dryer, roller hand paper, individual paper towels

Hand sanitizer dispensers are installed next to the doorway in buildings with no bathroom or sink.

DFCA will ensure proper cleansing of all areas on the site before the arrival of employees, students, contractual workers, and guest artists as well as during meal breaks.

Sharing equipment or material among employees, students, contractual workers, and guest artist is not recommended. However, in such cases, disinfection of the equipment or material is required each time.

Wearing gloves does not protect anyone from a COVID-19 infection. Avoid touching your face with your hands or gloves.

Each person should respect a 2 meter (6ft) physical distance space with others.

There will be no complete housekeeping services in your unit during your stay. We will leave cleaning products for your use in your unit. For all questions or problems, please contact the DFCA lodging coordinator or go to the office where there is always someone available.

If you have any symptoms before your departure from home, it’s best to postpone you trip. Should symptoms develop during your stay, we ask that you follow the Covid-19 guidelines. You must also immediately advise DFCA and call the Coronavirus information helpline, 1 877 644-4545.

Respecting the recommended hand washing and disinfection, respiratory hygiene, and physical distancing guidelines is essential, please wear a mask or face-covering if physical distancing is impossible.

We reserve the right to inquire if you have travelled outside the country within the last 14 days. Should this be the case, your reservation will not be accepted since you must self-isolate for 14 days as per the present Quarantine regulations. Please refer to the guidelines for travelers returning from a foreign country including the USA.

We will assign housing and provide the necessary information so you can easily find your unit.

When you leave DFCA, we ask that you leave your keys in the key deposit box next to the Studio office door or at the lobby desk in the Student residence.

Access to the housing units by the housekeeping staff will be kept to a minimum, proposed schedule:

  • 2 days / week : trash cans and towels (leave dirty towels on the floor)
  • 1 day / week : bathrooms and shower cleaning and maintenance

Q. How do I upload my videos on YouTube?
A. To upload your videos, create a free account at Select "Upload" and the "Unlisted" option. The video will be accessible only to those who have received the link.

Q. I am applying for financial aid and it requires a cover letter. What is it exactly?
A. A cover letter should explain, in 3 or 4 paragraphs why you are seeking financial aid or a scholarship.

Q. Can I still apply after the deadline?
A. Yes, we accept late applications if spots are still available.

Q. When will I know if I have been accepted?
A. Admission decisions are sent via e-mail around mid-March. If you have a deadline with another program and need to know sooner, please contact us. We will check with the faculty to see if a more timely reply can be provided.

Q. When will I get a response if I am on the waiting list?
A. Participants have approximately 1 week to confirm their attendance after admission to the session; the waiting list is then used to fill the available places based on the confirmations received.

Q. If I am not admitted to the enriched program, am I automatically considered for the regular program?
A. Yes, you are automatically considered for the regular program.

Q. Can you tell me what teachers I will be studying with?
A. We will try, as much as possible, to respect your selection of teachers according to their schedules and availability.

Q. Are detailed schedules available before I arrive?
A. A detailed schedule will be provided to you via Team-Up a few days before the start of the session.

Q. What repertoire should I prepare?
A. Bring all the music and exercises you wish to work on during your session, along with accompaniment scores. Make sure to have, for each week of your session, at least one work that you judge to be performance-ready.

Q. Can I rent a musical instrument at DFCA?
A. No, DFCA does not provide instrument rental.

Q. Can we get an attestation of participation for a music or dance session?
A. Yes. An official attestation of participation will be provided to all participants and sent by e-mail at the end of the session.

Q. Does DFCA issue income tax receipts?
A. Receipts are issued upon request only. As for the Québec RL-24 slip related to Child Care Expenses, our accounting department will send you a form at the end of the season.

Q. Is lodging included in the session fees?
A. The session fees include room and board. Rooms are randomly assigned based on the availability of beds.

ATTENTION: A 35$ fee is charged for bedding and towel rental, which includes towel, pillowcase, sheets and a blanket. Participants can bring their own bedding and towel if they decide not to rent them from DFCA.

There are no private rooms at Domaine. For students wishing to pay for single occupancy lodging, please contact hotels or motels in the region, these costs are the students’ responsibility.

Note for visitors, parents, and friends: the DFCA studios, dorms and student residence are reserved for the exclusive use of registered Academy students throughout the summer (June–August). Guests are welcome to use the cafeteria. Meal tickets must be purchased in advance at the Box Office. Camping is not permitted at DFCA.

Q. May I choose with whom I wish to share lodging?
A. Yes, you can indicate preferences on the application form. Every attempt will be made to fulfill your request.
