A poetic dialogue between dance, music, and landscape ! Les Scénographies-Paysages – Eaux et forêts offers an artistic journey through the outdoor site of Domaine Forget. Six dancers and four musicians lead the audience in this open-air, site-specific performance that embodies the spirit of the site.
A site-spectific dance means that it is closely linked to the place/context in which it is created and performed. The work is therefore inspired by both the natural and constructed spaces of Domaine Forget. From the river waters it overlooks to the forest that surrounds it, including a new sculpture in its Harmonic Garden, the Domaine reveals its little secrets in this show created in its image.
Enchantment: this is the word that comes to mind for choreographer Danièle Desnoyers when she talks about this project. She invites us to "renew our enchantment with nature and landscapes," to listen to the beauty of the world, to awaken all our senses" to experience a moment where time stands still.
After presenting Les Scénographies-Paysages in Sardinia, at the Jardins de Métis, and on Île d'Orléans, the Le Carré des Lombes company’s new work Eaux et Forêt will be rooted in the unique setting of Domaine Forget. The Quasar saxophonist quartet will join them to also reflect the institution’s dedication to music.
An experience to be enjoyed, rain or shine!
The boreal edition of Scénographies-Paysages is a Carré des Lombes production co-produced with the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. It received support from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec's program Presentation of Works in Public Spaces or in Atypical Venues. The National Arts Centre presentations will take place on September 27-28 at the Mackenzie King Estate in Gatineau.
