Application deadline – January 25, 2021

The status of students, who had applied for the 2020 summer session and who received an admission confirmation, is maintained and postponed to the summer of 2021. The CAN$80 registration fee paid in 2020 for sessions that were cancelled are carried over to 2021 as well. No registration fee will be required with your new application.

If you were admitted to a 2020 summer session, you will be automatically admitted to the 2021 summer session as long as you apply before January 25, 2021. If you were awarded a scholarship in 2020 for a session that was cancelled, the amount of the scholarship will automatically be awarded for the 2021 summer session as long as you apply before January 25, 2021.

If you were registered for a 2020 summer session and were unable to prepare new audition material because of the Covid-19 physical distancing restrictions, we can consider your 2020 audition material for the 2021 summer session.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us at for all questions concerning the deferral of your 2020 status.

Please upload two separate recent videos* (less than 12 months), clearly labeled, fulfilling the following requirements:

  • Two (2) works of your choice of contrasting types (style, period and composer); total length: about 15 to 20 minutes, presented with 2 separate video links*

All the documents must be uploaded at the last step of the application form (step 5).

*Video link (one link per piece or a single link with different works); public or unlisted YouTube, Vimeo or DropBox links or any other link directly accessible without a password and clearly labeled.

**Piano accompaniment: if for various reasons, most notably Covid-19 restrictions, you’re unable to submit an audition recording with piano accompaniment, exceptionally this year, we will accept a recording without accompaniment.

The student must submit the repertoire that he or she would like to work on or improve during the session by uploading the details (titles, composers and edition) to Your Profile (Step 5) by May 1, 2021 at the latest. You must be prepared to play the repertoire during masterclasses.

Students normally attend all masterclasses daily. They usually participate in one or two master classes per week.

All the students can attend daily masterclasses as long as the professors judge that their level of practice and preparation is sufficient. It is each student’s responsibility to prepare their chosen repertoire adequately.

N.B.: It is strictly forbidden to record or take photos during masterclasses without the guest musician’s prior approval, should this be the case, these recordings or photos must be kept solely for your private use.

Semi-individual lessons
Participants in the double bass session usually receive two semi-individual lessons (in a subgroup of about four students) per week.

We will try to favour a student’s first choice of professor but depending on circumstances and available spots in the classes, a student could be assigned his second or third choice of professor.

Rehearsals with the pianists
Access to piano accompaniment will be available to students playing in masterclasses or student concerts, typically once or twice a week.

Students must bring photocopies of the piano scores of the works they will work on in masterclasses and give them to the pianists at the beginning of the session. These photocopies must already be bound.

Academy concerts or "Domaine on the Road" series
All chamber music groups will have the opportunity to perform in Academy concerts or in the "Domaine on the Road" series as long their teachers deem them ready. The faculty and artistic management could select certain students to give a solo performance at one of these concerts.

Each participant must fully insure his/her instrument for the entire length of his/her session. Unfortunately, Domaine Forget does not rent or loan musical instruments.

  • Every precaution will be or are taken to ensure each student’s safety during his session.
  • The number of students at the Academy has been substantially reduced, meals will be served as per a specific plan in several steps with pre-defined class ‘’bubbles’’, daily cleaning and disinfection protocols of all facilities and equipment as well as between each activity will be implemented.
  • 1.5 to 2 meter physical distancing in all common areas will be respected and single occupancy lodging will be strongly encouraged; exceptions: couples, families or music partners.
  • For more information go to the Covid-19 page.
