Repertoire
The student must submit the repertoire that he or she would like to work on or improve during the session by uploading the details (titles, composers and edition) to Your Profile (Step 5) by Friday May 1st, 2020 at the latest. You must be prepared to play the repertoire during masterclasses.
Masterclasses
All the students can play in masterclasses with the guest musician as long as the professors judge that their level of practice and preparation is sufficient. It is each student’s responsibility to prepare their chosen repertoire adequately.
Individual lessons
The guest professors will only give private lessons to the participants in the enriched content segment. Participants in the regular program will work in private lessons with the faculty professor of their choice. We will try to favour a student’s first choice of professor but depending on circumstances and available spots in the classes, a student could be assigned his second or third choice of professor.
Chamber Music
Chamber music is optional however it’s indispensable to anyone who’s planning a musical career. It’s an essential aspect of the program that offers many opportunities of performing in the various Academy concerts. Due to logistics, it’s important to remember that a student who does manifest the desire to join a chamber music ensemble will not be permitted to withdraw from his or her assigned group. Ensembles are assigned approximately two weeks before the beginning of a session.
Rehearsals with the pianists
Students must bring photocopies of the piano scores of the works they will work on in masterclasses and give them to the pianists at the beginning of the session. These photocopies must be already inserted in a black binder. Access to piano accompaniment will be available to the students who will play in masterclasses. Depending on the pianists’ schedules other students may be able to receive some coaching with them.
Academy concerts or ‘’Domaine on the Road’’ series
All chamber music groups will have the opportunity to perform in Academy concerts or in the ‘’Domaine on the Road’’ series as long their teachers deem them ready. The faculty and artistic management could select certain students to give a solo performance at one of these concerts.
N.B.: It is strictly forbidden to record or take photos during masterclasses without the guest musician’s prior approval, should this be the case, these recordings or photos must be kept solely for your private use.
Instrument
Each participant must fully insure his/her instrument for the entire length of his/her session. Unfortunately, Domaine Forget does not rent or loan musical instruments.
