REGULAR PROGRAM

The cello and string quartet program focuses on solo practice and chamber music. This two or four-week program proposes to advanced level cellists (aged 16 and over) a personalized pedagogical approach in a collaborative context.

  • Masterclasses
    Teachers: Marc Coppey, Gary Hoffman, Johanes Moser and Philippe Muller
  • Chamber music coaching
    Coaches: Chloé Dominguez, Nancy Dahn and François Paradis
  • Rehearsals with piano
    Pianist: Chiharu Iinuma
  • Themed workshops and lectures
  • Participation in Academy student concerts or "Domaine on the Road" series on chamber music
  • Official attestation of participation to the program

STEPPINGSTONE PROGRAM

This segment is designed for very advanced students or young professionals whose file stands out due to its quality and its exceptional nature and who wish to work in depth on their repertoire in preparation of a recital, contest, or audition.

A maximum of 3 students will be accepted to the program and will automatically receive a scholarship worth two thousand Canadian dollars (CAN $2,000) for the 4-week program.

The steppingstone program includes the following:

  • Private lessons and/or meetings with our guest teachers
  • A participation to a student concert of the Academy or Domaine sur la route as a soloist or chamber musician
  • An audio recording of the concert performance
  • Consultation on career development with our Artistic Director
  • A special mention on our social media
  • Participation in a media content capsule

If you want to apply for the steppingstone program, please check the corresponding option in Step 3 of the registration form. Candidates not selected for the steppingstone program are automatically considered for the regular program.


EVERY PROGRAM INCLUDES

  • Access to all the Academy classes and activities for the entire program: masterclasses, workshops, and conferences.
  • Free access to le Domaine Forget International Festival concerts during the program. (Restrictions may apply for certain concerts).
  • Student evening activities (bonfire, sports activities, tourist outings, movies, yoga etc.).
  • Individual practice huts and spaces situated on the enchanting site in the middle of nature.
  • Three meals a day in the Joseph-Rouleau pavilion, which has a large terrace and marvelous view overlooking the St. Lawrence River.
  • Double or quadruple occupancy lodging.

INFORMATION SESSIONS

If you want more information about the program or the registration progress, our general information sessions are there to guide you. They consist of a short presentation of the Academy and followed by a question period.

These 60-minute virtual sessions will be held on:

  • Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 10AM and 2PM
  • Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 10AM and 2PM

APPLYING FOR ADMISSION

Complete all steps of the online application form, pay the registration fee of eighty-five Canadian dollars (CAN $85), and provide the audition material by February 1, 2022.

In the scholarship awarding process, the evaluation committee will consider the quality of the audition material, the excellent nature of the candidate’s file as well as the student’s motivation letter.

AUDITION MATERIAL FOR THE REGULAR PROGRAM

  • Two (2) works of contrasting style, period, and composer, including a minimum of one work with piano accompaniment, for a total length of 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Current biography and résumé (CV)
  • Profile picture

Please upload a separate video for every work; public or unlisted YouTube, Vimeo or DropBox links or any other link directly accessible without a password and clearly labeled. Recordings should be recent (less than 12 months).

AUDITION MATERIAL FOR THE STEPPINGSTONE PROGRAM

  • In addition to the audition material for the regular program, submit 1 imposed work with piano accompaniment among the following is required:

*Sessions are planned for a period of four weeks, but by way of an exception, we will accept students who wish to register for a two-week period, subject to availability. Students registered in 2020 for a two-week session whose status is maintained in 2021 will also be able to register for the two-week period.


PAYMENT INFORMATION

First instalment
To confirm and reserve your place a first deposit, a non-refundable fee covering about half the cost of your session is required within seven (7) days following your acceptance letter and invoice.

Second instalment
The second payment is due no later than May 1, 2022.


CANCELLATION / REFUND

Le Domaine Forget de Charlevoix reserves the right to cancel any program if circumstances demand it. All fees already paid will then be reimbursed. Registration fees are non-refundable.

Le Domaine Forget de Charlevoix will retain 50% of the second payment in case of cancellation of your registration.

No refund possible after May 2, 2022.


 

Paypal

Domaine Forget uses Paypal for secure payments. Email confirmation (in addition to the automated PayPal notification email) will be sent as soon as possible, once payment has been confirmed. Payment confirmation may take a few days. Remember: You must enter the amount you wish to pay and the full name of the registering student.
