PROGRAM

something old and something new

A balance of repertoire from both living composers and the traditional canon of the chamber music repertoire.

This two-week session is aimed at young professionals (minimum age 18) violinists, violists and cellists. Each participant receives a scholarship of one thousand Canadian dollars (CAN$1,000) for their participation in the Chamber Music program.

Domaine Forget’s Chamber Music program offers a unique opportunity of working alongside international masters and young artists at the peak of their art in a convivial and intimate setting.

  • Huw Watkins, piano and composer

During the two weeks, each participant will study two different works in two different ensembles with one artist Mentor per group.

  • Two rehearsals per day lasting two hours each
  • Lectures and workshops discussing the session’s repertoire and its interpretation
  • Informal repertoire reading sessions
  • Participation in Academy student concerts or "Domaine on the Road" concert series

the PROGRAM also INCLUDES

  • Access to all the Academy classes and activities for the entire session
  • Official attestation of participation to the program
  • Free access to le Domaine Forget International Festival concerts during the session. (Restrictions may apply for certain concerts)
  • Student evening activities such as bonfire, sports activities, tourist outings, movies, yoga etc.
  • Individual practice huts and spaces situated on the enchanting site in the middle of nature
  • Three meals a day in the Joseph-Rouleau pavilion
  • Double or quadruple occupancy lodging

APPLying FOR ADMISSION

Complete all steps of the online application form, pay the registration fee (CAN $85), and provide the audition materiel by February 10, 2023.

To submit a request for additional financial assistance, a justification letter must be included in your file.

AUDITION MATERIAL

  • Two (2) works of contrasting style, period, and composer, including a minimum of one work with piano accompaniment, for a minimum length of 15 minutes.
  • Current biography and résumé (CV)
  • Profile picture

Please upload two (2) separate videos for the two (2) individual works; public or unlisted YouTube, Vimeo or DropBox links or any other link directly accessible without a password and clearly labeled. Recordings should be recent (less than 12 months).

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

  • Arrival: Sunday, May 28, 2023, as of 2PM (classes begin on Monday, May 29, 2023)
  • Departure: Saturday, June 10, 2023, after breakfast

PAYMENT INFORMATION

First installment
To confirm and reserve your place a first deposit, a non-refundable fee covering about half the cost of your session is required within seven (7) days following your acceptance letter and invoice.

Second installment
The second payment is due no later than May 1, 2023.


CANCELLATION / REFUND

CANCELLATION POLICY:

1st installment (50% of session fees) payable within 7 days of receipt of your invoice: non-refundable.
N.B.: This first payment is used to confirm and reserve your place in the program.
2nd installment (remaining balance): 50% refund of the amount paid if canceled at least 30 days before the start of the program.

If you cancel your participation in the session for any reason other than medical (doctor's note required) 30 days or less before the start of the program: no refund.

No refund as of May 2, 2023.

Le Domaine Forget de Charlevoix reserves the right to cancel any program if circumstances demand it. All fees already paid will then be reimbursed. Registration fees are non-refundable.


 

Paypal

Domaine Forget uses Paypal for secure payments. Email confirmation (in addition to the automated PayPal notification email) will be sent as soon as possible, once payment has been confirmed. Payment confirmation may take a few days. Remember: You must enter the amount you wish to pay and the full name of the registering student.
